As a logo designer myself, I understand that ‘real’ logo design, is about consistently solving difficult problems, which often involves multiple hours of deep focus & discipline.

However, logo designers often find themselves trapped in the labyrinth of tedious tasks — pixel pushing, constant adjustments, and precise alignment.

The process begs for a solution, and it’s here that the first Logo Grid Generator emerges as the beacon of innovation…

Discovering a Pain Point

In the world of design, tasks like pixel-pushing can be a real frustration, gobbling up precious hours.

One day, during a tedious grid creation session, it hit me: there must be a smarter, more efficient way to tackle this.

This realization sparked the idea behind ‘Grid it’, a tool designed to automate those repetitive tasks and free up designers to focus on their creativity.

Finding a solution

I envisioned a solution that would put an end to the pixel-pushing madness when creating logo grids.

I pictured a concept that could transform these arduous tasks with just a click of a button, something extremely convenient, easy to use, and, above all, blazingly fast.

I knew it had to be a game-changer, not just for me but for all logo designers seeking a more efficient and creative way to craft their masterpieces.

It was clear this product is for logo designers like myself. Luckily, this allowed me to have a clear criteria for a successful Logo Grid Generator™

THE CRITERIA

1) Convenience = An Adobe Illustrator Extension:‍

There were 2 forms The Logo Grid Generator™ could be created; Script vs Extension.

A script is the worst form for a Logo Grid Generator, as it takes too long to apply on your logo as a result of many ‘clicks’ needed.

In addition, installing/ using scripts consists of many unsafe and weird files.

The main aim is to make it convenient, safe and LESS tedious for the designer.

Extensions on the other hand, provide an excellent and seamless experience for the user.

Extremely user friendly and safe to download and use thanks to implementing zips and authentication files/ folders.

2) Speed = Instant logo grids:

I carried out a survey with my audience on instagram, and discovered 66% of designers spend 30–60 minutes just creating logo design grids. And 91% spend over 15 minutes…

This was extremely shocking, and just made me aware that if I create a Logo Grid Generator™ that produces logo grids instantly, it would be a massive game-changer.

3) Simple & Intuitive = Minimal Interface:‍

Logo design is all about simplicity and reduction.

As a product built for logo designers, it is important that a Logo Grid Generator must also follow this philosophy.

The extension had to include only important and useful buttons, in combination with clear functions.

I done this by creating only 4 main features/ buttons;

• Anchors: Re-creates Anchor points
• Handles: Re-creates Bezier-Handles
• Outlines: Creates and outline of the logo
• Gridlines: Produces vertical, horizontal & diagonal lines derived from the logo

The other 3 buttons were also a necessity;

• Generate: Executes the selection of features
• Generate All: Executes all features at once
• Refresh: Restarts button selections

I then decided to share it with my audience on Instagram via a reel that showcased the potential of Grid it without reference to the product.

The response was overwhelming! The reel done very well, amassing over 168,000 views and igniting the curiosity of countless designers. It was a clear indicator that designers were seeking innovation and automation.

This unexpected triumph prompted me to officially unveil Grid it. The news resonated with the community, drawing 700 designers within hours and expanding the waitlist to over 4,300 eager logo designers as we approach our official release.

However, with the growing popularity of Grid it, there have also been a few imitators attempting to steal the idea and also infringing on trademarks.

Creating misleading and subpar solutions. This has only solidified my determination to provide an authentic and premium solution for logo designers. Our commitment to the community remains unwavering.

‘Grid it’ is, and will always be, about empowering logo designers. One tool out of many to automate the creative process.
